Technology and IT recruitment in Singapore

Biz Manpower recruits technology and IT professionals for permanent roles with Singapore employers — software engineering, data, cybersecurity, cloud and infrastructure, and technology leadership. We screen candidates against your stack and the skills you actually need, send a short assessed shortlist, and agree terms before we start. You deal directly with us throughout.

What we recruit

What technology roles do you recruit for?

We recruit across the technology function, from hands-on engineers to technology leadership. That spans software engineering (front-end, back-end, full-stack and mobile), data and analytics, cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure and DevOps, IT support and operations, and engineering and IT leadership. Tell us your stack, the seniority and the skills the role actually needs, and we source candidates matched to all three.
Area by area

What does each technology role do, and what should you look for?

Finance titles overlap and vary by company, so it pays to be clear on the work, not just the label. Below is what each core role typically owns and the experience worth screening for. Use it to pin down the brief; we then match candidates to the actual responsibilities and systems, not just a job title that sounds close.

Software engineering

Builds and maintains your product — front-end, back-end, full-stack or mobile. Look for a genuine match to your stack and codebase, sound problem-solving, attention to code quality and testing, and the right seniority: a senior who can set direction, or a mid-level who delivers within one.

Data (analyst, engineer, scientist)

Three different jobs. Analysts explain what happened (SQL, BI, dashboards); engineers build the pipelines and platforms that move and store data; scientists model and predict with statistics and ML. Look for the one your problem actually needs — teams often over-hire a scientist when they need an engineer or analyst.

Cybersecurity

Operations (SOC) monitor and respond; security engineers build and harden systems; governance, risk and compliance (GRC) handle risk, audit and regulatory requirements. Singapore’s regulated sectors keep demand high. Look for relevant certifications and, above all, hands-on depth in the threats and tools you face.

Cloud, infrastructure & DevOps

Keeps systems running and shipping — cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), CI/CD, automation and reliability. Look for direct experience with the platforms you actually run and a track record of both stability and delivery speed, not just certificates.

IT support & operations

Keeps the business working day to day — helpdesk, endpoints, networks and access. Look for a service mindset, clear communication, and familiarity with the systems in your environment.

Technology leadership (engineering lead, IT manager, IT director, CTO)

From running a team up to owning architecture, security, budgets and strategy. The more senior the role, the more it’s about judgement, delivery and stakeholder management over hands-on coding — look for evidence of those alongside the technical foundation.
Skills & certs

What skills and qualifications do technology employers look for?

In tech, demonstrable skill usually outweighs credentials. What matters most is a real match to your stack — the languages, frameworks and platforms you run — plus evidence the candidate has built and shipped comparable work. Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP) and security certifications (such as CISSP or CISM) carry real weight in their fields. A computer-science degree is common but, for many roles, a strong track record matters more.

Certifications that carry weight

Cloud roles: AWS, Azure or Google Cloud certifications signal current platform skill. Security roles: CISSP, CISM and CEH are widely recognised. For most engineering roles, though, what a candidate has actually built and shipped tells you more than any certificate — we screen for both.
Data roles compared

What's the difference between a data analyst, data engineer and data scientist?

They’re often confused, and hiring the wrong one is expensive. A data analyst explains what happened — querying data, building dashboards and reporting for decisions. A data engineer builds the pipelines and platforms that move, clean and store data at scale. A data scientist predicts and models, using statistics and machine learning. Many teams need an analyst or engineer first; we help you hire to the problem, not the buzzword.
Reporting

Data analyst

Pipelines

Prediction

What roles pay

What do technology roles pay in Singapore?

Technology pay varies more than almost any other field — by stack, by specialism and by seniority. The table below sets out indicative base monthly ranges for common tech roles, compiled from published market sources and dated at our last review. Treat it as a guide for budgeting a role, not a quote — AI, cloud and security specialists sit at the top, and we’ll give you a realistic range for your brief.

What moves pay

What affects technology salaries in Singapore?

Mostly scarcity and skill. Pay climbs with the demand for a specific stack or specialism — AI and machine learning, cloud engineering and cybersecurity command clear premiums — and with seniority and the size of the systems a person owns. Your sector matters too: financial services and big tech pay at the top. Many tech packages also include equity or bonuses on top of base, which the ranges above exclude.
Permanent or contract

Should I hire a permanent or contract technology professional?

Both are common in tech. Permanent suits roles that anchor your team and product. Contract suits a defined need — a project, a migration, or a niche skill you need for months rather than years — and the tech market uses contracting more than most. We focus on permanent placement; for contract or interim cover we match the candidate and an established payroll partner employs them, so you avoid the payroll liability.
How we work

How do you recruit a technology hire?

The same four steps, tuned to tech. We brief with you to pin down the stack, the seniority and the must-have skills; run a targeted search across our network and direct approaches; screen candidates against your specification and arrange technical testing where you want it, then send a short, ranked shortlist; and run interviews, references and the offer with you — you keep the final technical call — staying involved through notice and the first weeks.

EP & Compliance

Hiring a technology professional who needs an Employment Pass?

Technology hires are among the most common Employment Pass cases — much of Singapore’s specialist tech talent comes in on an EP, which means meeting the salary floor and the COMPASS framework. If you’ve found your candidate and need the pass handled, our EP & Compliance team manages the Employment Pass application and the COMPASS pre-assessment on a fixed fee, and can advise on the right pass before you file.
Fees & terms

What does it cost to use Biz Manpower?

We agree terms in writing before any work starts. Most permanent tech roles run on contingency — you pay only when you hire someone we introduced; senior or confidential searches run on a retained basis. We don’t run contract payroll ourselves; contract and interim tech cover is matched by us and employed through an established payroll partner. The full engagement terms are on our Professionals & Executives page.
Common questions

Technology recruitment — common questions

We focus on permanent placement. The tech market uses contracting heavily, so for contract or interim cover — a project, a migration, a niche skill — we match the candidate and an established payroll partner employs them, so you get the help without taking on the payroll liability.

We brief on the stack you actually run — languages, frameworks, cloud platforms and tools — and source candidates with that experience. Whether it's a specific framework, a cloud platform or a security specialism, we match to your specification rather than sending generic CVs.

We screen candidates against your specification and can arrange technical testing where you want it. You keep the final technical interview and decision — we make sure the people who reach it are a real match on stack and seniority, not just keywords.

An analyst explains what happened with querying and dashboards; an engineer builds the pipelines and platforms that move and store data; a scientist predicts and models with statistics and machine learning. We help you hire to the actual problem rather than the title.

Yes — these are among the most in-demand roles in Singapore. We recruit across security operations, security engineering, governance and risk, and cloud and DevOps, screening for relevant certifications and, above all, hands-on depth in the tools and threats you face.

Very often — much of Singapore's specialist tech talent comes in on an Employment Pass, which means meeting the salary floor and COMPASS. If your candidate needs a pass, our EP & Compliance team handles the application and pre-assesses COMPASS before you file.

There's no fixed timeline and no honest way to promise one — it depends on the stack, the seniority and the market. Niche or in-demand skills take longer. We give you a realistic estimate at the briefing call and a first shortlist as soon as we have strong candidates.

Demand stays strong for AI, cloud and cybersecurity skills, while hiring for more generalist roles is selective. Pay is highly polarised — specialists command premiums. Rather than quote a figure, we give you a current, specific read on your role and stack at the briefing call.
