Common questions
Healthcare recruitment — common questions
Q1: Do healthcare professionals need to be registered to work in Singapore?
Yes. Nurses register with the Singapore Nursing Board, allied health professionals with the Allied Health Professions Council, pharmacists with the Singapore Pharmacy Council, and doctors with the Singapore Medical Council. We recruit registered or registration-eligible professionals and confirm status before shortlisting. We don't provide registration itself.
Q2: Do you recruit permanent or locum healthcare staff?
We focus on permanent placement. Locum and contract cover is common in healthcare — for leave, projects or short-term gaps — and for that we match the candidate and an established payroll partner employs them, so you avoid the payroll liability.
Q3: Which healthcare roles do you recruit for?
Nursing and nursing leadership; allied health such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, radiography and medical technology; pharmacy; and healthcare operations and administration. We also scope specialised medical and clinical leadership searches. Tell us the role and setting and we match to it.
Q4: Can you recruit foreign-trained nurses or allied health professionals?
Yes, where they are eligible for Singapore registration. Overseas qualifications are assessed by the relevant board, and eligibility varies by country and qualification. We confirm a candidate's registration or eligibility before shortlisting, and a foreign hire usually also needs an Employment Pass.
Q5: Do healthcare hires need an Employment Pass?
Foreign-trained hires often do — an Employment Pass requires meeting the salary floor and COMPASS, separate from the professional registration needed to practise. If your candidate needs a pass, our EP & Compliance team handles the application and pre-assesses COMPASS before you file.
Q6: How long does it take to fill a healthcare role?
There's no fixed timeline — it depends on the specialism, the setting and registration checks, which can add steps for foreign-trained candidates. We give you a realistic estimate at the briefing call and a first shortlist as soon as we have suitable, registration-eligible candidates.
Q7: Is private-sector healthcare pay higher than public?
Often somewhat higher for comparable roles, though the public sector has structured salary bands and allowances that add up. It varies by role, specialism and setting. We give you a realistic, current range for your specific role at the briefing call.
Q8: What's the healthcare hiring market like in Singapore?
Demand is strong across nursing and allied health, supported by an ageing population and expanding care capacity. Experienced, registered professionals and scarce specialisms are sought after. Rather than quote a figure, we give you a current read on your role and setting at the briefing call.
Q9: Is Biz Manpower a licensed recruitment agency in Singapore?
Yes. Biz Manpower Pte Ltd holds Singapore Employment Agency Licence 25C3142, regulated under the Employment Agencies Act. You can verify the licence yourself on MOM's public Employment Agency directory.
